Victim injured in accidental shooting at downtown Dallas Omni


Dallas, Tex. -  (1-2-16)   A shot fired inside a hotel room at the downtown Dallas Omni Hotel was the result of an accidental shooting, according to Dallas police.

The shooting happened Friday night at the hotel on Lamar Street around 10:30. Police responded to a call about a shooting on the 23rd floor of the hotel. They found a victim with a gunshot wound in the torso lying in the hallway. The victim had been inside the hotel room with friends and somebody accidentally fired the shot, police said.

The victim is being treated at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas.

Mobile police investigating gunshot wound to head as accidental


Mobile Al.  (1-2-16)   An 18-year-old male received a life-threatening gunshot wound to his head Saturday afternoon at South Haven Apartments, at 3577 Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, according to authorities.

A Mobile Police Department spokeswoman told FOX10 News the incident is being investigated as an accidental shooting. It was not clear right away whether the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or someone else is responsible.

Police: Man accidentally shot while hunting in Suffolk


Suffolk, VA.  (1-2-16) Suffolk police say a man on a hunting trip was accidentally shot by another hunter Saturday morning.

The man was shot in the 2600 block of Jackson Road, which is wooded and rural, according to a statement from Timothy Kelley, spokesman for the city of Suffolk.

Suffolk police responded to the scene at 9:40 a.m. and found a man, whose exact age wasn’t being released, with “minor gunshot injuries,” Kelley said. He was treated and released from Sentara Obici Hospital.

A preliminary investigation found that another hunter who was trying to shoot a deer accidentally struck the man, Kelley said.

Police do not expect to file charges, and the shooting appears accidental, Kelley said. The incident is still under investigation by police and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

Kelley said that there was no additional information available.

New Year's party shooting hospitalizes two East Texans


TRINITY, TX (KTRE) - (1-2-16)  Two East Texans were hospitalized for gunshot wounds in Trinity following a New Year's party.

According to the Trinity Police Department, two men, 19 and 20, of Trinity, were hospitalized for gunshot wounds after a shooting at Club Kroxx-D-Trakx (Old Charlie Mae's) on New Year's Day. One of the men was flown by helicopter to a regional hospital.

The Trinity Police Department issued a statement saying that Chief Jones expressed concerns for the party beforehand, warning event promoters, but the party went on as scheduled.

York County shooting appears to be accidental, official says


Yorktown, VA.   (1-1-16)  The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was shot Friday afternoon, an official said.

The incident happened just after 12:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Piccadilly Loop in Yorktown, according to Lt. Dennis Ivey.

Officials believe the shooting was accidental, but the incident is still under investigation, Ivey said.

The man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No additional details have been released.






Fatal New Year’s shooting,  Investigators do not suspect foul play


Altus, OK.  (1-2-16)  Altus Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened New Year’s Day in the 12oo block of W. Wingfield. According to Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy, the shooting appears to be have been accidental shooting.

According to Murphy, the shooting call came in at 12:38 p.m. on Jan. 1. When police arrived they discovered the body of a 62-year-old male victim outside under a carport. The victim was transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by EMS personnel and was later pronounced dead.

Police did recover a handgun, at the scene, near where the victim was found.

Murphy said that investigators believe the victim was attempting to secure the family dog to a chain outside when a gun the victim was carrying was dropped. The gun discharged, striking the victim in the upper right thigh.

“Other family members present at the home tell investigators they heard a gunshot,” said Murphy. “They went outside and discovered the victim laying on the ground.”

At this time investigators do not suspect foul play in the man’s death. The victim was taken to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Accident wounds corrections officer


Chino, CA.  -  (1-2-16)   A California Department of Corrections officer was treated for a gunshot wound to her hip Wednesday at the shooting range at California Institution for Men in Chino.
“Her weapon discharged while she was trying to holster it,” said Chino Valley Fire District spokeswoman Massiel Ladron De Guevara.
Paramedics were called to the shooting range near Central Avenue and El Prado Road at 11:06 a.m. on a report of an accidental shooting.
The officer, who was identified only as a woman in her 40s, was taken by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton. She has since been released.
The injured woman does not work for CIM, but is a backgrounds investigator working out of Rancho Cucamonga.
No other injuries were reported.

Fatal shooting under investigation in Nashua


NASHUA, Iowa – (1-2-16)   Authorities are investigating a shooting death at a home in Nausha.

Authorities from several agencies are gathering evidence at a home on the 100 block of St. Lawrence Street.  An officer on the scene tells KIMT News 3’s Levi Ismail that they believe the shooting was accidental, but they are gathering more information to make sure.



Law enforcement members from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office, Nashua Police, and Iowa State Patrol are on the scene.

Colorado Springs, Co.  (1-1-16)  The Colorado Springs Police Department received a call for service for a medical assist at the 2000 block of Del Mar Dr. When officers arrived on scene, they located a male victim with a gunshot wound.

The male victim was transported to a local hospital for a non-life threatening wound. The male victim was unwilling to provide information as to how he was shot. At this time there is no suspect information and the investigation is continuing.
