A witness said the man shot himself in the leg while trying to hide his handgun.    “I was the one who parked his car,” the witness said. “It was an accident. He was trying to hide his handgun (to or from a glove box) because somebody can touch it. He was doing that and he shot himself. He was bleeding bad, he lost a lot of blood.”According to Houston Community Newspapers news partner KTRK Channel 13, officials confirmed the man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Woodlands residents Jeremy and Melissa Chapman said they never heard a shot.
“We just came from eating and had no idea,” Chapman said. “We just saw a bunch of flashing lights.”
Panera Bread Assistant Manager Jeremy Shannon said a customer witnessed first responders helping the man. Shannon said it is a nice area and mall security conducts shooting drills to be prepared.
“I had a guest in here that said they had an elderly man on a stretcher,” he said. “... No one has come here and told us anything that there was a (shooting) going on. ... I do know that we have strict precautions in the case something like a (shooting) does happen.”
