Police confirm it happened Wednesday night at the Academi Training Center in Moyock, North Carolina. You may know that facility by its former name, Blackwater.
The Camden County Sheriff’s Office says the incident occurred after training was completed Wednesday afternoon, when officers were cleaning their weapons. The Sheriff’s Office says Capt. Michael Ronan’s weapon accidentally discharged, which resulted in one officer being struck in the arm.
The injured officer, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Lt. Johnny Gandy, was treated at a local hospital, released and is recovering from home. Since the incident is considered an accidental discharge, police say that no one has been placed on administrative leave.
An internal investigation will be conducted, which will entail a review of safety and training protocols. The Sheriff’s Office has also launched an investigation, since that is where the Academi shooting range is located. No criminal charges are expected.

JACKSON COUNTY -- (11-5-15) A Vancleave teen has admitted he lied to authorities when he said he was shot with his father's gun after returning home from church and surprising an intruder the evening of Oct. 25, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said.
The 17-year-old could now face a felony charge of false reporting of a crime because investigators determined the teen had accidentally shot himself with his father's gun and then tried to cover it up with the report to police.
The teen had told deputies he was shot at his home on the 2500 block of Carter Homestead Road when he surprised an intruder, grabbed his father's gun and was shot during a struggle with the suspect.
