Phone shop robbery ends in accidental shooting
APD hunts for suspect who shot accomplice

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —(11-18-15) Albuquerque police are searching for a suspect after a frightening armed robbery at a Northeast Heights cellphone store.

Employees at a Sprint Store in the 2500 block of Juan Tabo Boulevard said two men held up the store on Wednesday. A worker said the men brandished guns, and led him and another worker to a back room.

"Total disbelief, total shock," said store manager Nicolas Garcia. "I wasn't expecting anything like that. It definitely caught us off guard."

While the robbers hogtied the victims, a gun went off and the bullet hit a robber in the leg, according to the worker.

"They acted as customers (at first)," Garcia said.

Store employees said the robbers quickly fled, taking with them about $10,000 worth of cash, merchandise and personal belongings.

Garcia then broke the zip tie, locked the door and called police

Police were able to quickly capture the injured suspect, who was hospitalized. They're still looking for the second, a tall, dark-skinned man in his 30s. He was wearing a blue shirt, black jeans and reading glasses.

Police believe the second suspect could be armed.

Shortly after the robbery, police locked down nearby Tomasita Elementary and Kennedy Middle schools. The lockdowns were quickly lifted.

"We're just happy that we're OK," said Garcia.

Police arrest teen in accidental shooting in Windham

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have arrested a man in connection with an accidental shooting last week in Windham, according to police. A 17-year-old who was shot in the head is still in critical condition.

State Police say a 17 year old was accidentally shot in the head on Nov. 11 around 10:15 pm.  Troopers found the victim in an upstairs bedroom at 63 Windham Center Road.

The teen was taken to the hospital and was reportedly conscious when troopers arrived. The shooting was originally reported to police as a drive-by shooting, but further investigation revealed that was not the case.

After conducting interviews and finding evidence, police obtained an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Jeremy McGeowan, of Windham, and arrested him Tuesday during a traffic stop in New London. Police say McGeowan cooperated with police during the arrest.

McGeowan is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Police: Indianapolis dad 'snapped' in son's fatal shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - 11-18-15- Police say an Indianapolis man has admitted to fatally shooting his 22-year-old son during a dispute over breakfast.

The Indianapolis Star reports that 46-year-old Fred Fleener III faces a voluntary manslaughter charge in the death of Fred Fleener IV.

Court documents show Fred Fleener III told police that he "snapped" because his son was "a bully." Both he and his daughter said in statements that the fatal shooting Saturday at the family's home was the result of years of bullying and abuse by Fred Fleener IV, who had bipolar disorder and other mental health issues.

The daughter told police that the fight between her father and brother started when Fred Fleener IV threw something at their cousin because he only received one breakfast platter.

A trial for Fred Fleener III is set for Jan. 25.

Police: Elks Lodge shooting ruled accidental, not linked to Franklin Borough shooting

Johnstown Pa., (11-16-15)  Two men have been charged after a shooting incident at a Johnstown Elks Lodge early Saturday, which Johnstown police have ruled accidental.
Tresean Wiggins, 25, of Solomon Homes in Johnstown and Rudolph B. Davis, 23, of Newburgh, New York, were both charged with providing false information and identification to police after the incident Saturday.
Capt. Andrew Frear of the Johnstown Police Department said the shooting has been ruled accidental and not related to a shooting at the bar formerly known as Johnnie No-Nex in Franklin Borough around the same time Saturday.
According to a police affidavit, Johnstown police responded to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center after 3:30 a.m. when Davis arrived for a gunshot wound to the upper leg. During interviews, both Davis and Wiggins provided officers with false names and indicated that an unknown suspect had shot Davis in the leg at the Elks lodge on Horner Street.
Officers later found a pair of men's boxer underwear in a plastic bag in a Dumpster outside of Solomon Homes that were bloody and were disfigured in the area Davis was shot. Davis left the hospital before officers confirmed his identity and was later located at Wiggins' residence at the Solomon Homes, the affidavit says.
Investigators say they believe Davis was in possession of a .22-caliber firearm that discharged and struck him in the upper left leg. Davis was wanted by New York State Division of Parole for a parole violation from a 2012 robbery conviction that prevented him from obtaining a license to carry a firearm, police said.
Upon executing a search warrant at Wiggins' apartment, officers found 33 stamp bags of heroin, $700 in cash, Wiggins' identification and a .22-caliber handgun, which was loaded. The affidavit says Wiggins took ownership of the heroin and told police he was selling it.
Davis has been charged with persons not to possess a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, tampering with/fabricating physical evidence, obstructing law enforcement, false identification to a law enforcement officer and two counts of making false reports.

Wiggins is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver, hindering apprehension, tampering with/fabricating physical evidence, obstructing law enforcement, false identification to law enforcement, intent to possess a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer accidentally fires rifle into 121st precinct ceiling

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – (11-19-15)  An NYPD officer accidentally fired an AR-15 rifle inside the 121st Precinct stationhouse after a weapons bust last week, the Advance has learned.

The officer was vouchering the weapon into evidence Tuesday night, a law enforcement source said, when it discharged, firing a shot into the ceiling of the Graniteville stationhouse.

The blast sent a spray of concrete into the officer’s face, resulting in a trip to the hospital for evaluation, the source said.

Any NYPD spokesman confirmed the incident took place but declined comment further, citing an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation.

The weapon came from a stash confiscated from the New Springville home of Anthony Romano, 34, the source said.

Or in other words, with a round chambered, ho chose to pull the trigger with the rifle pointed in an unsafe direction.  Gosh I hate it when that happens to me.  I remember the last time I accidentally shot up a police precinct.  We all laughed and laughed and laughed.  I’m glad they were all cool and didn’t cause me a hassle about it.

Not an accidental shooting:

10-Year-Old witness claims Jamar Clark was handcuffed when officers shot him

Ze’Morion Dillon-Hokin was only yards away from Jamar Clark when he was killed, and as protests raged through Minneapolis over Clark’s death, the 10-year-old boy gave his witness statement to police saying that Clark was handcuffed when he was shot.

Ze’Morion said that Clark was trying to get to an ambulance where his girlfriend was being treated but was blocked by police in his efforts. “They asked him to step back. He was saying ‘f*** you’ to them,” he said.

He said that Clark then put his hands up and was handcuffed. Then, he was “choke-slammed down” by the officers.

Ze’Morion said that Clark was face-down when he was shot and that officers “flipped him over” and removed one handcuff before dragging him to the ambulance.

His mother Tequila Dillon, 31, said: “He was in shock afterwards. He was at home playing on his PS4 when he heard something was going on and went outside to see what it was. He saw it all and it has upset him. He came in and fell right over and said: ‘They are killing us.’ No child should see something like that and they are getting a therapist to try help him over it. He is off school.”

"I hope what he has told the police and the Bureau will help everybody get to the truth.”

Because there is little video evidence in this case, Ze’Morion’s testimony may well play a key role in the investigation.
