ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING
On Saturday, November 07, 2015, at approximately 12:15 p.m. a Detroit Lakes man, Robert Schlieman, age 36, was accidentally shot while deer hunting in Swift County, north of Holloway, Minnesota. A deer ran in between other hunters that Schlieman was hunting with, when one of the hunters thought that the deer was far enough away and started shooting at the deer. One of the slugs that was fired struck Schliemann in the left abdomen side of his body. The Appleton Ambulance, Holloway First Responders and Swift County Sheriff’s Office along with the Minnesota Department of
Natural Resources responded.
Schlieman was transported from the scene by the Appleton Ambulance to the Appleton Area Health Services hospital where he was then airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital and was in stable condition. This is still under investigation.
Sheriff John Holtz stated, ”When hunting with others safety is the number one priority”.
