Rome infant dead following reports of accidental shooting

Rome police are investigating the death of a 7-month-old boy following the reports of an accidental shooting at a residence, city police said.


Rome, N.Y.  (11-28-15)   Rome police are investigating the death of a 7-month-old boy following the reports of an accidental shooting at a residence.
Authorities responded to 519 W. Dominick St. shortly before 4 p.m. for a report of an injured child, police said.
Upon arrival, police found the child dead inside the second-floor apartment, officials said.
The gun believed to be related to the case has been recovered by police.
Detectives and forensic investigators responded to the scene, as well as AmCare Ambulance and Rome firefighters.

ATL Police: 6-Year-Old Accidentally Shot, Killed By Father

Atlanta  (11-29-15)  - Atlanta police were searching for a man they believe accidentally shot and killed his 6-year-old daughter on Saturday.


The incident happened at 1041 Martin St. SE, about a mile southeast of Turner Field.

Police tell Channel 2 Action News the father initially fled the scene, however, he is now speaking with detectives Saturday afternoon, police said. No charges have been filed.

It was initially reported that the girl was "non-responsive" and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, but Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. Warren Pickard said shortly after noon that the girl's body remained inside the home.

Same incident;
ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Atlanta police responded to a person shot call on Martin Street SE just before 11 a.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived on the scene, they heard from people at the scene that a child was accidentally shot in the head by her father.

Police said the 6-year-old girl, Ja'Mecca Smith, died on the scene.   APD tells CBS46 the father left the scene briefly but returned in time to be questioned by detectives.

CBS46 spoke to neighbors on the scene. They said the bullet went through the wall of an adjoining apartment and hit a radio.

Detectives are not sure who to blame for the death yet.  They said several people besides the girl were inside the home, including her father, a teenager, and other small children.

As of Saturday evening, no one was charged with a crime, and detectives said they're still trying to figure out what happened.

Teenager Killed After Being Shot In The Chest


RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) -- (11-28-15)  Just after 11 p.m. Friday night, Riviera Beach Police department responded to a fatal shooting at 1601 West 37th Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 21- year old Kenerick Taylor holding the victim, who was motionless, outside of the apartment.

Riviera Beach Police have identified the victim as 16-year old Johnathan Pearson.

After an investigation police determined that Taylor was displaying a small calibar handgun inside the apartment where the shooting occurred. Taylor initially denied involvement with the shooting but after fruther question told police that the gun accidentally discharged while he was handing it to Pearson.

Police discovered the firearm hidden outside the residence.

Riviera Beach Police have charged Kenerick Taylor with one count of Second Degree Murder with a Firearm.

Man says he shot, killed man he thought was an intruder


Memphis Tn, (11-23-15)   A man was charged with reckless homicide following a shooting Saturday night.

The shooting occurred in the 1500 block of Frayser Boulevard. Police found a man bleeding on the floor of a living room with two bullet wounds: one in his chest and one in his thigh.

The man was pronounced dead nearly an hour later.

The suspect’s mother said 29-year-old Travis Branch mistook the man as an intruder and shot him several times.

Branch ran from the scene and later turned himself in.

Branch told police he was shot weeks ago, and he thought the man was his uncaptured shooter coming to kill him.

Branch is charged with reckless homicide and is due in court tomorrow.
