POLICE: Mother 'accidentally' shot by 2-year-old son near Churchill Downs


Louisville, Ky  (2-12-16) - A mother was "accidentally" shot Friday night by her 2-year-old son, police say.

Louisville Metro Police Department says the shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. at a home in the 500 block of Evelyn Avenue, just south of Churchill Downs.

Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley says the mother is conscious and alert at University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers are still investigating how the boy got the gun and if anyone else was in the house.

Birthday Celebration Ends After Accidental Shooting
Police reminding public all guns should always be considered loaded

Millcreek, Ut  (2-12-16)  Police are reminding people to treat all guns as if they are always loaded after a woman was accidentally shot in the foot Friday morning.

Sgt. Shane Manwaring of the Unified Police Department said  a 35-year-old woman and her friends were out celebrating her birthday and had returned to her home near 2980 South 2000 East after a long night.   Just before 4:30 a.m. one of her male friends wanted to show off his handgun.

"He didn't follow the basic firearm rules. The first rule being 'All guns are always loaded'; He pulled the trigger and accidentally shot the woman in the foot.." Sgt. Manwaring said.    The shot went all the way through her foot.    She was transported to St. Mark's hospital in good condition to be treated.
Sgt. Manwaring said everyone involved was cooperative. Charges are pending on the male shooter.

Bladen County Deputies Investigate Accidental Shooting          

Bladen County, NC  (2-12-16)   - The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after a woman was accidentally shot and killed Thursday morning. 

Authorities say they received a call around 3 a.m. saying a woman on Ruby Kidds Road near Bladenboro had been shot.

The caller Kelly Hamilton, 44, told authorities his friend Crystal McLamb, 44, had accidentally shot herself. Hamilton said the two had been watching a movie and McLamb went to move a weapon that was loaded and lying on a coffee table.

While moving the loaded gun, it went off, killing her.

Responding officers found McLamb on the couch in the living room. She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

An autopsy on McLamb is being performed Friday at the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Raleigh.

Accidental shooting at Clanton business injures one                (PUBLIC)

Clanton, Al  (2-12-16)  Authorities in Clanton responded to the scene of a self-inflicted accidental gunshot wound to the leg Friday afternoon.

Based on emergency dispatch reports, an individual visiting Edward’s Jewelers in Clanton accidentally shot himself in the leg.

The individual was visiting the business, and was in the back of the store away from customers when the gun went off.

The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m.

The individual was airlifted by emergency helicopter after a landing zone was set up near the peach water tower in Clanton.

NYPD: BROOKLYN TEEN CELEBRATING MADDEN TOUCHDOWN FATALLY SHOOTS FRIEND IN FACE

Brooklyn, NY  (2-12-16) -- A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot during an apparent accidental shooting as he played video games with friends inside his Brooklyn home.

Police responded to the house on Miller Avenue just before 10 p.m. Thursday, when they found Denzil Nash suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say Nash was playing Madden with two friends, ages 18 and 15, when the youngest teen scored a touchdown, pulled a gun from his waistband and celebrated by waving it around. The gun discharged, striking Nash in the face.

The two other teens fled the house but were quickly caught.

The 18 year old was taken to the precinct and has been making statements to detectives.

The gun was recovered at the location.

Charges are pending against the 15-year-old, who has reportedly made statements implicating himself.

Police say the 18-year-old was sending a text message at the time of the shooting.

Euclid man accidentally shot during Cleveland card game

Cleveland, Oh  (2-12-16) A 54-year-old Euclid man was accidentally shot in the ankle early Friday while playing cards at a friend's Cleveland home.

Cleveland police responded about 3:30 a.m. to University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center in Richmond Heights to speak with the man, according to a police report.

The victim suffered the gunshot wound at his friend's house near the intersection of East 127th Street and Shaw Avenue in Cleveland's Forest Hills neighborhood, the report states.

The man told police that there was a "card game party" at the house. About 2:30 a.m., the victim and three other men were playing cards when he heard a "pop," the police report says.

The victim said he was confused but about a minute later, he realized he had been shot in the ankle, the report states. He knew the man who shot him, but said that the gun went off when it was accidentally dropped.

The shooter has not been arrested.

Gary man charged after accidentally shooting his father to death             (DEFENSE)

Gary,  (2-12-16)  A man was charged Friday with unlawful possession of a firearm after accidentally shooting his father to death in his parents’ home.

Donnell Currin Jr., 48, was charged with one count of felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, according to a statement from Gary police.

He was awaken at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday by his mother calling out to his father, 80-year-old Donnell Currin Sr., police said. When the porch light went off and the doorbell stopped, he grabbed a handgun from his mother’s room and went to investigate.

Seeing a shadowy figure at the door whom he thought was an intruder, he fired one shot, hitting his father in the arm. The bullet traveled into his father’s chest and lodged in his back, police said.

Currin Jr. did not know it was his father until Currin Sr. called out to him after the shooting, police said. Currin Sr. was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary for treatment.

An investigation revealed that Currin Jr. was convicted of felony criminal confinement in 2002, police said. He was then charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

Officers shot accidentally following high speed chase

Cordele, Ga  (2-12-16) — The Georgia Bureau of investigation is currently investigating circumstances surrounding an officer involved shooting in Crisp County Thursday following a high-speed chase that spanned two counties. Recent reports indicate the shots that injured an Ashburn Police Officer and a Turner County Sheriff’s Deputy were the result of an accidental discharge from the weapon of a Georgia State Trooper following the chase.
The chase began when Ashburn Police attempted to stop a stolen car. The vehicle fled north on I-75 and Ashburn Police initiated a pursuit.  The male passenger of the vehicle, identified as 34-year old Joaquim Dinon Gerry began firing at the pursuing officers, while the second suspect, 29-year old Danielle Ockstadt of Colorado Springs, Colorado drove the vehicle.
Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies joined the chase at the 96-mile marker at around 4:12 p.m.
According to a press release from the Georgia Bureau of investigation, Gerry shot himself during the chase and later succumbed to his injuries.
Ockstadt stopped the vehicle at Exit 99 in Crisp County and taken into custody. Sheriffs Billy Hancock(Crisp) and Andy Hester (Turner) approached the vehicle to apprehend the passenger who was visibly holding a cocked weapon. It was discovered that Gerry had suffered a serious gunshot wound to the head.
Officers had removed Ockstadt from the vehicle and handcuffed her when an accidental discharge of weapon occurred with a responding officer from the Georgia State Patrol. The shot struck Ockstadt, a Turner County Deputy and an officer with the Ashburn Police Department. All three wounds were to the lower leg of each person. The law enforcement officers were treated and released. Ockstadt was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
According to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office the investigation revealed that Gerry had a criminal history. He was wanted out of Colorado Springs, Colorado for a stolen vehicle. The vehicle involved in the incident is also reported stolen from Colorado Springs Police Department. The investigation continues today with GBI agents returning to Cordele.
“It is incidents like this that show just how well Crisp County and surrounding agencies work together to get crime off of our streets,” said Sheriff Billy Hancock. “I thank God that no one was seriously injured during this situation. There h.
The GBI will conduct an independent investigation to determine what occurred during the incident. When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the District Attorney for judicial review.

  1. All these incidents are the result of human ignorance and irresponsible behavior. You can also take help from the MA Gun License to know about the guns and the uses of it. Guns are supposed to be safety devices, they become killing machines because of humans only.
