Little Rock, Ak  (2-23-16)  A 20-year-old man was accidentally shot and injured during a game of Russian roulette Tuesday morning, Little Rock police said.

Police responded to 2826 S. Summit St. after a 10:09 a.m. call, Lt. Steve McClanahan said.

At the scene, the man shot, Ladevyon Harris, and 19-year-old Bryant Taylor of 2115 S. Scott St. in Little Rock initially said "a number of individuals drove up in a black [Dodge] Avenger and began shooting at them" while they were standing and smoking outside.

Harris and Taylor later changed their stories, telling police that they were playing Russian roulette with a .357 revolver. At one point during the game, the handgun discharged in Taylor's possession, striking Harris in the leg, according to a police report.

Man shoots self in leg as revolver falls in restroom

Albemarle, NC  (2-23-16)  An Albemarle man suffered a gunshot wound Saturday after his handgun discharged while in the restroom at the Handi-Mart.

Edmund M. Bachner, 24, was struck by a bullet in the lower leg at 2:21 p.m. and taken to Stanly Regional Medical Center for treatment, according to Albemarle police.

Bachner was carrying an older-style .22-caliber revolver at the time of the mishap in the Burleson Square convenience store/restaurant, Capt. David Dulin said.

“Apparently when he dropped his pants the revolver fell out of its holster and hit the floor on the revolver’s hammer, causing it to discharge,” Dulin said.

The restrooms are located on the restaurant side of the building. Few customers were inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting, since it was after the lunch hour, said Myra Whitley, restaurant manager.

“It sounded like the commode lid slammed shut,” Whitley said. “It really wasn’t that loud.”

Once Bachner exited he told patrons he had accidentally shot himself, she added.

Police chief urges gun safety after 2 deadly accidental shootings

Baton Rouge, La  (2-23-16)  Officials want to remind people about gun safety following two accidental shootings about a day apart that resulted in the deaths of two teenagers

"When you have senseless tragedies like this happen, it's always tough," Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie said. "It's tough on the families, it's tough on our community who have to deal with something that just didn't have to happen. This could have easily been avoided."

The first shooting happened Thursday evening. Investigators said Darneisha Williams, 16, was shot in the head at her home by a relative. Police reports stated a teenaged boy was playing with a gun when the shooting happened. Williams died at the hospital Saturday. Detectives said they later learned the gun was stolen.

The 16-year-old suspect has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center on charges of negligent homicide, illegal possession of a stolen firearm and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile. His name has not been released

The second accidental shooting happened Friday night. The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Gerald Levi, 17, was shot and killed. Byron Devore, 20, was arrested in connection with the shooting.

According to investigators, Devore was holding a gun and on FaceTime on his cell phone when the weapon accidentally fired and hit Levi in the head. Police said Levi was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Devore is charged with negligent homicide. He was released from jail Sunday after posting a $50,000 bond

  1. I simply love people being associated with the guns as most of the times they are supposed as the killing machines but one must remember that when anything is not used properly then they can be really hazardous. Guns are supposed to be used as a safety device not a killing machine. People who are related to gun must deliver proper training and message to their trainees as having guns is always associated with having moral duties associated with it.
