Queens dog attack leads to accidental police shooting
(12-3-15)  Two men were inadvertently shot by police trying to stop attacking dogs.



Police inadvertently shot two men while dogs were attacking on a Queens street corner.

On Wednesday around 10 a.m., officers responded to a fight at Rockaway Boulevard and 128th Street in South Ozone Park and found two dogs attacking a man as at least two other people were fighting, police said to NBC.

The responding officers shot the dogs when they turned to approach the officers, killing them, NBC reported. In the gunfire, two men were hit, police said to NBC, adding that both are expected to survive.

No officers were injured, ABC stated, also reporting that the incident is still under investigation.

Three people were aprehended after the incident, according to NBC, which added that it's not clear whether they'll face charges.

Boy accidentally shoots himself in hunting accident: RCMP


LOVER FIVE ISLANDS, NS – (12-2-15)   RCMP say a 12-year-old boy accidentally shot himself while hunting on Nov. 27.

Const. Mark Skinner, spokes person for the RCMP, said the shooting is being considered accidental.

The boy appears to have shot himself in the shoulder, he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing.

15-year-old boy accidentally shoots himself in the leg

Lowell, Ohio  (12-2-15)  The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting incident in Lowell.


Officials say a 15-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the leg at his home Wednesday morning. The boy was transported to Marietta Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators do not know if anyone else was home at the time.

Officials will continue investigating to find out how a minor got a gun in his possession without adult supervision.

"It's still under investigation so we'll look at the totality of all the circumstances and see if there was any criminal activity involved and make a determination. It was non0life threatening injuries which is better than obviously shooting someone else and it being a fatality," says Captain Troy Hawking, WCSO.

Officials are looking into if any gun laws were violated. They say charges could be possible.

The Ohio DNR also responded in case it was a hunting accident

Hotel guests: Shot accidentally fired


ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (12-2-15)  St. Joseph County Police collected two handguns as evidence after hotel guests claimed a shot was "accidentally" fired late Tuesday night.

Officers were called out to the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel in the 52000 block of State Road 933 just before midnight.

Assistant Chief Bill Thompson said a bullet apparently traveled through the floor, into a room below and became lodged in a chair. No one was injured.

Investigators also took a casing as evidence.

The hotel guests have not been identified.

Accidental shooting

Flagstaff, Ariz.  (12-2-15)  A 22-year-old Flagstaff man was taken to the hospital over the weekend after police say he accidentally shot himself in the leg.

According to the police report, the shooting happened at a home in the 4400 block of North Lynch Avenue at approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The victim told police he and his girlfriend were getting ready to leave town when he picked up his Springfield Armory XD-9 handgun in his bedroom. He told police he must have grabbed it near the trigger because it went off.

The bullet pierced the padded part of his left hand, passed through his left leg and embedded in the mattress.

The girlfriend, who was in another room, heard him scream for help and called 911. The victim was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. The weapon was booked into Flagstaff Police Department for safekeeping. No charges were filed.

UPDATE: Hunter airlifted to hospital after hunting accident


Barlow, W. Va. (12-2-15)  The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accidental shooting in Barlow Wednesday. Officials say it was a hunting accident on Bell Road just before 3:00 pm.

Deputies say 54-year-old Daniel Long was out hunting when he was shot in the hip.Officials are still investigating how he was shot.

Long was airlifted to Grant Hospital in Columbus for serious injuries.

The Ohio Division of Natural Resources is also investigating the incident.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says a hunter was accidentally shot in the hip in Barlow.

Deputies are currently on scene.

Stephanie Lutnes Charged After Accidental Shooting

Casper, Wy.  (12-2-15)   Casper woman is accused of mishandling a gun and shooting someone.
Twenty-nine year old Stephanie Lutnes has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and battery, and one count of possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent.
Investigators with the Casper Police Department say just before 1am on Tuesday, December 1st, Lutnes had to walk home from a bar, because the victim left without her.
When she arrived home, she found the victim laying on the bed and his handgun was nearby.
Lutnes said she woke him up and yelled at him to get rid of the gun, then tried to hand it to him when it went off and a bullet stuck the victim in the thigh.
She added that she had never used guns before, because they give her anxiety.
The victim was able to tell police a similar version of events, and said he had the gun due to rising hostility with Lutnes’ ex-husband’s family.
Lutnes’ bond was set at $15,000.
She is awaiting trial and could face up to 10 years in prison on the aggravated assault charge, and up to five years in prison on the possession of a deadly weapon charge if convicted.
