9 year-old hospitalized in accidental shooting
IRA, Vt. (8-31-2015) A nine-year-old girl remains in the intensive care unit after police say she was accidentally shot by her father.
It allegedly happened Sunday morning at a hunting camp off Route 4 in Ira. State Police say the girls father, Randy Babcock, was checking the handgun to make sure it was not loaded when it accidentally went off, hitting the girl in the stomach. The child was carried to a rest area and then airlifted to the UVM Medical Center where she underwent surgery. As of noon Monday she was listed in "good" condition.
Babcock told authorities that his daughter was standing at a safe distance, but then moved. He was not able to explain why the gun went off. Police say no charges have been filed against Babcock and that the investigation continue

NEW: Adults face charges in accidental shooting Update on Bellefontaine shooting
Bellefontaine, OH (8-31-15) Two adults have been charged with child endangering in what appears to be an accidental shooting Saturday.
Michael J. Blair, 44, of 804 W. Patterson Ave., and Dianne M. Harriell, 28, of Dayton, were charged, according to an incident report filed by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Javon Pence, 13, of 1121 W. Columbus Ave., was reportedly hit by a bullet from a 10mm handgun. He was not seriously injured, but he was flown by a MedFlight helicopter to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus for treatment.
Another 13-year-old boy was listed in the report as a suspect and may have handled the firearm. Officers seized a handgun, a small amount of marijuana and two glass pipes from the residence.

WOMAN GRAZED BY BULLET WHEN NEIGHBOR ACCIDENTALLY FIRED THROUGH WALL
LEXINGTON, Ky. (8-31-2015) (WTVQ) – A woman is lucky to be alive after a neighbor accidentally fired his gun through a wall Monday afternoon.
According to police, the bullet grazed her head near the temple and was inches from killing her. According to police, she was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injures.

Shooting Investigation in Peyton (not confirmed accident here);
Peyton, TX (8-31-2015) El Paso County Deputies are investigating a shooting in Peyton, near Judge Orr Road and Peyton Highway.
Right now, they tell us they are not sure if this is a homicide or an accidental shooting.
The man who was found dead was in his mid 20's.
The coroner is also on scene.

Two brothers died last night after a double shooting just outside of Opelousa
Opelous La. (8-31-2015) According to the witness, Joshua Miller, 27, of New Roads picked up the handgun, pointed it at his brother, 25-year-old Jeremiah Miller of Ventress and pulled the trigger, striking his brother in the chest area. After realizing what he had done, Joshua then turned the gun on himself and fired a fatal shot, killing himself.
