Heavy heart. Until we realize Americans are programmed to be violent and stop the programming, this will escalate. In America, the proliferation of guns since 2009 has raised the set point for violence.
I don't know what is happening. Millions rushed to gun stores and flea markets and online to buy any gun they could get after the "Obama is coming for your guns" propaganda campaign of the NRA/Ruger et al. Fox and the right has blatantly called our President everything from a terrorist to a homosexual. They have insinuated favoritism extended to African-Americans. This has stoked racial hatred to fevered heights. Stand your ground laws, Blame the victim mentality.
Not to preach, but seriously, America (and the right) do not seem to support:
Jesus said "love the Lord God with your all, and love your neighbor as you love yourself."
Teen Fatally Shoots Friend, Mistaken Identity
Billings, Mt (8-19-15)- A Montana teenager fatally shot his 15-year-old friend after mistaking him for an intruder when the boy threw a rock at his bedroom window in the predawn hours and then stuck his head through it, police said on Tuesday.
A preliminary probe into the shooting found the teen was sleeping in the family's Billings home just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday when his friend Mackeon Schulte and another teenage boy sought to rouse him but instead sparked fears of a break-in, said Billings Police Department Captain John Bedford.
The teen grabbed a revolver, a family heirloom he kept in his bedroom, and shot Schulte in the head in an incident Bedford described as a "horrible tragedy." Schulte died a short time after being taken to a hospital, police said.

3-year-old accidentally shoots self in Spring
SPRING, Texas – (7-6-'15) Independence Day weekend ended tragically after a toddler got a hold of a loaded pistol and shot himself.
Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the Bainbridge Estates subdivision in Spring after the occupants of the home called 911 to report their 3-year-old grandson had been hurt.
Detectives said it appeared the loaded pistol had been left on the nightstand next to the bed. If true, detectives said the grandparents could face a misdemeanor charge of making a firearm accessible to a child.
"There's nothing that the state of Texas can do to the parent or grandparent that's going to be anything close to what they're going to do to themselves," said Beall.

Police charge father they say accidentally shot sleeping toddler
Ocean View De (8-30-15) State police on Sunday arrested a Sussex County man they say accidentally shot his 2-year-old daughter as she slept.
The girl was shot in the leg about 1:10 a.m. Sunday in a home in the 37000 block of Muddy Neck Road near Ocean View, Master Cpl. Gary E. Fournier said.
Investigation determined the shooting occurred as Joseph M. Jenkins Jr., 38, showed his wife a gun he had gotten from a friend after his shotgun was stolen during a burglary, Fournier said.
State police had taken a burglary report from the couple about 9 p.m. Saturday, he said, noting that an undisclosed amount of cash also was stolen.
After troopers left the home, Jenkins went to visit a friend of his, returning home about 1 a.m., Fournier said.
Upon his entering the house, Fournier said, “his wife woke up from sleeping on the floor in the living room.”
As the couple’s three children – two 2-year-old girls and a 10-year-old boy – slept on a nearby sofa, Jenkins sat on the floor by his wife to show her a .40 caliber handgun he had gotten from his friend, Fournier said.
As Jenkins pulled back on the gun’s slide and let go, a bullet fired and hit one of the girls, he said.
The mother immediately called 911, he added.
A Delaware State Police Aviation Unit helicopter took the girl to Nemours/Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children in Rockland, Fournier said.
She was being treated later Sunday, he said, but her condition was not disclosed.
Her father was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault, firearm possession during commission of a felony and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Lacking $41,500 secured bail, he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown.
