Port Huron, MI (9-17-15) A 39-year-old Port Huron man is in critical condition after an accidental shooting Wednesday.
Port Huron Police Lt. Scott Pike said police were called to Lake Huron Medical Center about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Police spoke with a witness at the hospital who said the 39-year-old man was handling a handgun at a home in the 1500 block of Reid Avenue when it discharged and struck him in the abdomen.
Officers and detectives investigated the scene, which seemed to corroborate the witness statement, Pike said.
The man was transferred to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Pike said the man was listed in critical condition Thursday morning, but expected to recover.

Accidental shooting in Hyrum sends one woman to the hospital
LOGAN Ut (9-17-15) A 58-year-old Hyrum woman was hospitalized Wednesday night after her husband accidentally shot her with a handgun.
Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said Annette Randall was shot in the upper thigh from a .45 caliber pistol, being handled by her husband, 61-year-old Bryant Randall.
According to investigators, Annette was sitting on a couch while Bryant was preparing for a hunting trip. Bryant was handling the .45 caliber handgun when it discharged, striking Annette. The bullet fragmented and exited the back of Annette's leg.
Deputies and paramedics were called to the couple’s home at 164 South 1100 East in Hyrum around 8:30 p.m. Annette was treated on scene by EMT's from the Hyrum City Fire Department and paramedics from the Logan City Fire Department. She was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital where she received initial treatment. She was later flown by medical helicopter to McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden.
Investigators believe the shooting was accidental but are still investigating.

3-Year-Old Girl Was Accidentally Shot by Her Brother, Police Say
(7-31-15) The 3-year-old girl fatally shot in Southeast D.C. Wednesday night was accidentally shot by her 7-year-old brother, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Dalis Cox, her brother, their mother, an unrelated adult and a teenager were inside a second-floor apartment on the 600 block of 46th Place SE in Benning Ridge when the little girl was shot just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
"We believe it was a young child that got their hands on the gun," D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said at a news briefing Thursday afternoon, noting the firearm was not registered. "We believe it was an accident."
Police are investigating whether the gun was brought into the home by the teen, whose sex and age were not immediately revealed.
"We have the gun. It is not a registered," legal gun," D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said. "We haven't determined how the gun got in the house."
The child was rushed to Prince George's Hospital Center in critical condition by D.C. police who were already on the scene, Lanier said. Dalis was pronounced dead late Wednesday.
Police later confirmed that Dalis's brother fired the shot.
No one has been charged in connection to the child's death.

Man shoots at squirrel, hits hunting partner
(9-15-15) Sheriff John B. Spears reports on September 13, 2015, at approximately 10:15 am, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a hunting accident. The accident happened approximately one mile east of Coon Valley on public hunting land owned by the State of Wisconsin.
Alcedin Vang, age 44, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was squirrel hunting with a group of hunters when he shot at a squirrel, accidentally shooting another hunter.
The victim Lee Vang, age 43, of Holmen, Wisconsin, was shot in the shoulder area. Lee Vang was treated at the scene for his injury and transported by Tri-State Ambulance to Gunderson Health System.
Assisting at the scene were the Coon Valley Fire, Coon Valley EMS, and Tri-State Ambulance. The accident remains under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

11-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Killed on South Side
CHICAGO – (9-2-15) An 11-year-old boy was killed when a family member accidentally shot him at a home on the city’s South Side.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday on 74th and Saint Lawrence in Park Manor.
Police say Antwon Price Jr. sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach.
He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police found the gun outside the home after the shooting.
One person is in custody.
